Jr. High Intervention Counselor - Ms. Gonzales

My name is Ms. Gonzales and I am the Junior High Intervention Counselor for Legacy Academy. I am here to help develop your students in the areas of Academics, Social/Emotional Skills, and Career Exploration. I am very excited to return to the junior high level. Having been at the high school level for 15 years, in our district, I bring a plethora of information to our Legacy students. My family lives in the community and my children are Chino HS graduates.  I have 2 cats and love activities that are relaxing for the soul, such as yoga, hiking, meditation, cooking, music festivals and hanging out in my garden.

Academic Resources

This page will provide how to calculate a Grade Point Average (GPA), why the GPA is important from seventh grade through twelfth grade, resources for textbooks used at Legacy and resources to help manage your time and links for support throughout your time in junior high school.

How to calculate your Grade Point Average (GPA): How to calculate your GPA

Step 1:  Convert all letter grades into numbers

  • For each "A" you get (+ or - does not matter) 4 points
  • For each "B" you get (+ or - does not matter) 3 points
  • For each "C" you get (+ or - does not matter) 2 points
  • For each "D" you get (+ or - does not matter) 1 point
  • For each "F" you get 0 points

Step 2:  Add all the numbers together

The minimum sum you want to earn is 12 points.  That means you have earned a 2.0 GPA.   A 2.0 GPA is the minimum GPA a student needs in order to be eligible for school activities.

The California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) works to ensure that all 6th-12th grade students in California have access to a systematic baseline of guidance and support as they explore, plan, prepare and pay for post-secondary education.

CCGI partners with K-12 school districts to support students, counselors, parents and community-based organizations with technological tools that help guide the career and college planning and preparation process.
